[edit] General Information

The homeland of the Mirdain is always Mirendil, even though the borders of the realm often fluctuate with war. Mirendil is an ancient forest residing in the southwestern portion of the main continent. Just south of Mirendil is the Ruby Sea. To the north are the hills of the Mahirim Tribelands. To both the south and the east is the Alfar homeland of Nagast.

The Mirendil Forest contains many broad rivers. The river Irthan, a well known river in Mirendil, emerges from the eastern depths of the forest to empty into the western Eirandar wetlands. Sporadically scattered lakes and mountains also comprise much of Merendil.

The elemental regions of Mirendil are connected to elemental zones by permanently established vortex portals. Elemental matter may be transferred from portal to portal as well as monsters and weather effects. Northern Erinthel, with its arctic climate, is the most famous elemental zone. The fiery Northwestern Alyani is also a well known zone.

Among the sacred sylvan sites found in Mirendil are the Wildsprings. Featured in these Wildsprings are circular lakes containing small islets. These islets are each home to one Tree of All Seeds. In these trees live pixies and fairies.

[edit] Charybdis

Charybdis is located on both banks of the Irthan river near its source. Near the outer city limits the Irthan cascades down a steep cliff, launching sparkling water droplets into the air and giving the impression that Charybis itself floats upon a misty cloud.

As is typical with most Mirdain settlements, a series of connecting levels exist within Charybis. These levels allow for the Mirdain to live among the branches of the trees while business is conducted on the ground below. It is said that the Tree of All Seeds that grows near Charybdis is the parent tree to all of the other Tree of Seeds scattered throughout Mirendil.

Three important villages are located near Charybdis. Kings Holdfast, exists near one of the most sacred Wildsprings in all of Mirendil. Covering many plateaus is the city of Leafhelm. Lastly, Beladin's Rest exists under the branches of the enourmous tree called Eryasil, the tallest tree in Agon.
